When Selling To Customers, Start at the Top
We've all been there before. A customer walks in and says, "Give me a box of .30-06." After talking to the customer and finding out what he is going to be doing with the ammo (deer hunting, waterfowling, target shooting, etc.) we are faced with the moment of truth. Do we pull out the cheapest box of import ammunition we have and make an easy sale that we will result in no profit for the store or do we go to work and reach for the higher end premium ammo and make some money? This is when we have to use our sales skills and "up sell" the consumer. Whatever they are looking for, always show them the best first. You bring out the best and explain the features and benefits, and let the customer tell you if he wants to spend less. If you start at the bottom and try to go up, the road is much harder.
