Helpful Tips to Increase Sales

Take advantage of the busy waterfowl season to increase sales.

Boost sales with advertising.  Take advantage of co-op advertising.  To get your ads noticed, announce specials, giveaways, and events.  Be sure to include store hours and location. 

Make your store a convenient "one stop" waterfowl hunting headquarters.  Play wildlife sounds throughout your store.  Have gun cleaning service, and a licensing area. 

Cross Merchandise your products.  Set up an end cap that is not only ammo but species specific.  Encourage a mix of accessories and cleaning items for each season, have a specific waterfowl, deer, or other game specific end cap.

A drawing for free inexpensive prizes such as hats, ammo, and/or t-shirts will attract more customers. Use Branding by advertising your store name on t-shirts and hats.

Set up your store with visible signage and point of purchase promotional displays.  Make ammo easily visible, and dress it up by adding decoys and other hunting accessories.  Use the displays that show how Federal is superior to competitors.  Use rebates and discounts to sell more ammo.

Educate customers.  Make sure your sales staff is motivated and trained to educate customers and can explain the advantage's of Federal products. 

Sell Performance.  The bullet is the only equipment that comes in contact with the animal. Teach consumers product defferentation and upsell to the very best.  The consumer will be happier with their purchase and the store will make a better margin.

Consider an hosting an event that includes the younger hunters so they will want to come back to your store as lifelong customers. 

Hand out checklists of what hunters will need in addition to ammo to increase overall sales. Have other items conveniently placed in sight for customers.

Invite a Federal Dealer Services Rep to be on hand for special sales and events.

Host demo days with a local shooting range.  Invite Smith & Wesson, and Ruger representatives for consumers to test shoot different ammo.  Have customers get their guns patterened and then test ammo out in the field to compare differences.

Every consumer should be reminded that the price of the ammunition is the lowest of all their gear. The travel, gun, and clothing are all more expensive than their ammunition. They shouldn't skimp on something that could make or break their hunt.
